Im staying near Canal street but dont mind getting a taxi further. I am with work friends who are oldish! so want somewhere that plays chart music that everyone will recognise.

Canal street is a gay area of town, which can create some really good nights out and can be quite good fun, but it is worth knowing what to expect.
Also if you try a road called ‘high street’ in the northern quarter, there are plenty of really nice bars and clubs.
You could try china town if you wanted kareoke.
