18 Years Old And Backpacking Through Europe.?

26th October 2009

I’m an 18 year old girl and going backpacking in Europe with a friend soon.
We want to visit Europe (all the “tourist stuff”), but also go to small nice places, and also have fun at the same time (nightclubs, amusement parks, beaches.)..
Where should we DEFINITLY go?
Where should we not go?
I’ve heard there are some islands in Greece full of young people, who party all the time.. true?
Is ibiza really awesome? Or should we just stick to Madrid’s nightlife?
THANKS

    Recommend to do:
Barcelona – all of it. sleep all afternoon and party until the wee hours
San Raphael (French Riviera) – Stunningly beautiful
Majorca – Young people partying ALL the time
Prague – Very interesting history, good nightlife, watchout for thieves!
Poland – VERY pro-American, rich culture, good food

It all depends what you enjoy. Madrid is the best place for night life although Granada and seville is also nice. I would also take the time to go to portugal. Portugal is one my favorite places! (you can get there easily on a night bus from most places in europe.
Greece is also great for nightlife… and to answer your question about greece yes there are many party spots.
I talk a lot about backpacking (way too much to mention here) on my travel blog.

One piece of advice. try to stay in the same spot for a few days. The big cities take some time to figure out, especially the nightlife. So if you spend a few days there and talk to the locals you should be able to get an idea of the right spots to go to.
Secondly, make sure you plan your week right. You do not want to be in a great party spot on a monday or tuesday.
So go big on weekends and small during the week.
Eastern Europe has great party spots like Kracow Poland, Prague and are generally cheaper than other parts of Europe.
Spain has great weather, I would avoid Madrid for partying as I had trouble finding the right spots. Sevila and Barcelona are amazing and I had a great time in each. The main street in Barcelona is Las Ramblas which has a lot to offer but is very touristy so you be careful of places on las ramblas as they may suck and be touristy.
Greece is a great spot as well.
Ibiza is huge and if you are into partying hard, it is up there. Big drug scene there and huge mega clubs.
Places to avoid are very few as most things have a lot to offer
If you are backpacking I would recommend staying in hostels as they are a great way to keep costs down and meet other people who have a lot of info.
    Have fun!
