Grad School-graduation Theme? South Beach?

I’m still considering different ideas for my graduation party in may. I’m graduating grad school, and I want to make it a sort of a special event in my honor since I never had a s16 or batmitzvah or anything like that. I’m not sure if I want to do a theme because I am afraid it can come off really cheezy if I don’t put in the right $$ and consideration into it. But if I were to do a fun theme, I like the idea of South Beach Miami. I went there in 2006, loved it, and I am waiting for the day when I can go back. I like the mix of ethnic cuisine and the nightlife, but I’d like some tips on how to re-create south beach (with limitied budget) in a catered grad party. Thanks!

Okay well first you can go to a party store a purchase or rent imitation palm trees and then maybe consider having everyone dress in Beach attire and have it where a pool is that way you can really stick w/your theme!!
