How can I throw a really good party with only the Nightlife expansion pack?

If you want your party to be successful in the game, and have your party be rated high (eg. rating of “roof raiser”) All you need to do is to get your sims to socialize. So make sure you talk to all of them, try not to leave anyone out. Also, have some fun things that sims can do together, like a pinball machine for example.
If you just want your party to look good, then be creative. Play some music, maybe get a DJ. Hire a bartender, get good food, invest in some mood lighting – the disco ball thing, and the other party lights are always fun.
