The Sims 2: Nightlife Vs. The Sims 2: University. Which Is Better?

12th August 2009

When comparing gameplay, objects, and the game in general, what’s better? I read that with Nightlife, after you becoem a vampire you can go to a university and return normal. Does that mean I can sort of enjoy the same perks of University? And in University, when a Sim leaves to a university, does he leave the lot nad never return? How does it work? Can I still party with University, and can I still buckle down with Nightlife? Help! I’m a big Sims 2 fan but I’m not sure in which of the two expansion packs to invest

Nightlife is so much better than University. I have both and rarely use Uni. It takes soooo long to put them through uni and in the end you just get bored of it. If you just get Nightlife, no you cannot have the perks of Uni and vise versa. In Uni if you go off to uni you leave that lot and when you either finish or drop out of uni you go back into the neighbourhood sim bin as an adult and the only way you can get back into the house you were in before is if you move them back in out of the sim bin.
    I hope I helped,

[email me if you need any other help and I will do the best I can]

-No, vampires do not get any specific benefits concerning university.
-Nightlife and university are completely different, although the only shared thing between nightlife and university is that with either one you get influence: where, if you sim completes a want, they get “influence points” and are able to tell other sims what to do.
-The sim who leaves for university moves out just like a regular sim would, except they are only able to move to homes in the university and they start out only able to afford to live in the dorm. Once they complete university or drop out, they can move back home.
-You can still throw parties at university (with the added “sports party” feature) but you don’t get any nightclubs or a downtown neighborhood. Nightlife doesn’t give you university.
-In my opinion, University is way better because you get
    a. zombies
    b. to kick out the kids early
    c. three new career paths, and a sweet cowplant to kill annoying sims with, a camera which is a way to document your sims’ looks that’s easier and a resurrection phone so you can guarantee that your sims will never die.
…but nightlife is great, too, because of chemistry and dates.

You should buy Nightlife because it has more better stuff then University. It has cars Garages and dance floors hip hop stuff but University just has studying and more school stuff unless you like school

    Your Questions Answered:
When a sim goes to university, they turn into a “YOUNG ADULT”. A sim, however, can drop out, go back to the regular neighborhood, and become an “ADULT”. They can’t go back to university, because they already grew up.
You can party in University- in fact, it gives you new parties such as graduation parties and sports parties.
If you want your sims to party all night, with lots of choices to go to (clubs, restaurants, parks, gyms, etc.), GET NIGHTLIFE. (Vampires, as well. And cars!)
If you want your sims to be able to go to University, be more advanced in their careers (if they don’t get expelled), and be able to skill more, meet new people, etc., GET UNIVERSITY. (don’t forget the zombies, and new careers…)
Getting expansion packs won’t change the base game at all, it just adds more pizazz to the game.
I myself got both of those packs at the same time (Holiday gift). However, I had planned to get University first, then Nightlife.
    Cheers,
    The Knowledge
P.S.: you can add as many expansion packs as possible. Everything is applied to the base game. You can go to University and be able to go “Downtown”.

University i give it a 8.9 out of 10 but i give nightlife a 6.75 out of 10 its not that great but university is a blast and i would play it all day if i could so yeah university is better you can meet about 300 people and marry people and what not.

When your sim goes to uni, they go to a neighborhood screen only its the college campus. They can then go to various places like a library, gym etc (think of the university itself as its own town because its set up as such. Your sim can live in a dorm with other college sims or on their own on campus. When your sim goes to class he disappears for the duration of his class (usually 2 to 3 hours) then return. You have certain skills you need to advance. Its alot like job performance only its your class performance. You can leave college at any time, at that time youll be an adult placed in the neighborhood you came from in the family bin at the bottom of the neighborhood screen. Personally, I prefer nightlife and I own all the expansions. Theres alot of the nightlife features you can use without leaving your sims home. It adds dating, chemistry from sim to sim, turn ons and turn offs, vampires, a matchmaker you hire to set you up with the perfect dream date for a cost. Theres also a downtown area your sim can go to where he or she (and on a social outing with a group of friends) can go bowling, dancing, go to a restaurant etc. Also, your sims can now have cars and avoid taxis and carpools altogether. This ep really added alot, its my second favorite just behind Seasons.

Nightlife was released first, then University, so Uni. may have some of Nightlife’s features incorporated but to get everything for your game you really need to buy both.
I recommend University but that’s my personal opinion.
