Since it’s a college town and school hasn’t started yet, you probably won’t find too much going on other than the basic fireworks. Most bars don’t have big fourth of July plans. Some cities have festivals. If you live there or near there, I’m sure they would have signs up by now advertising any festivals.

Go down to Arthur, IL and watch the fire flies light up the Amish community.
It is also relaxing sitting on the a bench in the downtown area watching the oil lamp buggies disappear in the night.
